I love history, but I won’t bore you with the origin story of April Fools’ Day. Suffice it to say the new year once started in April and then shifted to January, but some fools didn’t catch on. Centuries later we still giggle about it.
Back in the early days of the internet, the first day of April brought with it some elaborate pranks. But that’s tapered off. In fact, cybersecurity software provider Malwarebytes shared a somewhat terse statement about why they’re no longer doing April Fools’ pranks. In a word (their words) “The internet is filled with falsehoods.”
Ouch.
