Hello, Gorgeous!
I frequently joke that my nose is purely decorative, especially during allergy season when it can be hard to take a breath without sneezing.
I try to avoid taking any medication when possible, especially allergy meds which do weird things to my entire system. I searched for an alternate solution. Neti pots are too hard for me to maneuver, so I was thrilled to find saline mists.
Neti Pot 101: Neti pots originated with ayurvedic yoga. They’re most often small teapot shaped containers used to irrigate nasal passages with a saline and purified water mix. The word neti means nasal cleansing in Sanskrit.
Simply saline solutions
I’m not sure when I found Arm & Hammer’s Simply Saline Nasal care Daily Mist, but it’s a lifesaver during high pollen count weather. I don’t use it obsessively, and I don’t use it daily, but it makes it a lot easier to breathe by getting rid of irritants and allergens that congregate in my nose. Spritz in one nostril, blow your nose, then repeate in the other nostril and voila! You’ll even sound less stuffy.
I discovered Arm & Hammer Simply Saline 3-in-1 wound care when I was trying to find ways to gently clean the skin around my new piercings. I’m guessing that for those of you with kids, this isn’t a brand new discovery, since they tend to scrape their knees and randomly injure their extremeties all the time. For me it was a revelation. I guess I was expecting a saline based solution to sting (salt in your wounds and all that), but it has a lovely almost cool feel. It also helps prevent infections.
I’m not a doctor, nor do I play one on the internet, so you should probably check with your own doc before trying either of these.
Here’s a helpful article from UCLA Health on the risks and rewards of nasal rinses.
Here’s a whole lotta info from PubMed on wound cleansing.
And though it should go without saying, none of the above mentioned solutions use table salt. You shouldn’t either.
Do you use any type of nasal or injury saline mist? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!

Huh! Who knew?
I've recently learned about saline as an allergy sufferer- now year round 🤧 - and a wood stove for the winter! Also side bar what are your thoughts on hypochlorus acid? I've been using Briotech for all things since my wellness crunch sis introduced me but wondering if you've dabbled.
