Autumn/Winter Color Trends
Earlier this year, Pantone predicted these colors. I'm feeling meh about them.
Hello, Gorgeous!
Back in February, Pantone analyzed the colors coming out of NYC Fashion Week and came up with some predictions. Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute, described the looks as being “Imbued with a feeling of effortless glamour, colors for NYFW Autumn / Winter 2025 / 2026 are approachable and accessible.” And also a little weird.
Don’t get me wrong. I love the idea of warm and cozy fall colors. I’m just not sure I love this particular palette choice.
As I get ready to invest in a few key wardrobe-building pieces, I don’t feel inspired by my color options as outlined above.
There was another predictive palette as well which is artfully pulled together. It definitely has an early ‘90s power vibe, but I’m not sure how many of us will be investing in key winter clothes in these colors.
I know that I’m cranky, but we all seem stuck in this beige-adjacent comfort zone lately. And after Mocha Mousse as Pantone’s choice for 2025’s color of the year, I’m thinking that we need to break out of our collective color funk. Then again, as a born and bred New Yorker I still wear way too much basic black (which, let's be real, will always be chic).
As it turns out, I don’t feel like there’s a color of the season this season. Do you?
Which colors are you gravitating toward for your wardrobe investments, regardless of what Pantone says? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss.
