A question I’m often asked is whether people need both a pressed powder and a setting powder. The short answer is yes, they each serve a different need. The longer answer is that you can do without one or the other, but if you’re a makeup buff you’ll want one of each.

Pressed powder

Nose shiny? On the go? Pressed powder is probably the right choice for you. Pressed powders are portable, convenient and easy to apply. While most come with a thin sponge or similar applicator, some women prefer to use a large fluffy brush to apply.

How is pressed powder made?
