DIY Cheekbones
Forget complicated contouring, these easy to use beauty sticks make you look flushed + defined
Hello, Gorgeous!
Remember the creepy way overly contoured faces took over the world of beauty a few years back? Everyone and their favorite reality star posted a video with such aggressive contouring styles that they looked more Día de los Muertos and less like a perfectly snatched celeb.
We live and learn. And we also opt for easier to use products with better results.
Purlisse Vivi Glow Contour Trio
If you’re looking for a minimalist approach to beauty this spring, you might want to check out this cool set.
Unlike other stick bronzers, the Vivi Glow version has a definite tint, but is also incredibly lightweight and nearly sheer. The same goes for the blush and highlighter that come in this trio.
I’ll admit that in testing these I started with a light hand and then kept building the color until I looked like I was about to enter my disco era. Not my best look yet! I started over with a clean face and loved the look of these fun Purlisse products.
Bronzer: Use on the hollows of your cheeks (or fake hollows by using a bit directly under cheekbones). You can also smudge on a small amount directly under your chin area (what double chin?) or near your brow bones on the *side* of your face and not over your brows.
Blush: This looks really cute on the apples of your cheeks. Smile and dot on a bit and then blend well. You can blend upwards for more color and definition. I like the sheer look a lot, even when combined with the bronzer.
Highlighter: I’m not a fan of adding highlighter to your nose since it simply seems to amp up shine. Dot a bit above the arch of your brows, or directly above your blush. Blend well, please.
Layered: Unlike my unfortunate disco result above, I really do love the look of layered color, and it’s easier than you think.
Dot on bronzer where you’d apply blush — apples of your cheeks, cheekbones. Blend well.
Then dot on blush immediately on top of your bronzer. And of course, blend well. The effect will be a sunshiny and defined blush look…as long as you blend really well.
Also, you can use this technique and leave a bit of space for bronzer alone. Apply bronzer and blend or blot, then apply blush while leaving about 1/3 inch of space just for the bronzer to show a bit of definition before layering on your blush.
The trio is $59, on purlisse.com.
