Eat Dessert First
David Lebovitz's updated cookbook is a masterclass in yum
Hello, Gorgeous!
When life sometimes feels bumpy, it’s important to know that you can reset, recharge or snack yourself silly. I feel like the latter part is extremely timely. With Thanksgiving later this month, now would be the optimum time to start testing out new desserts to share with your loved ones. Or to share with yourself, one tasty bite at a time.
Professional cook and baker David Lebovitz recently released an updated version of one of his ridiculously mouthwatering cookbooks. Ready for Dessert, Revised: My Best Recipes, makes you almost believe that you can create desserts this gorgeous and delicious (Riz au Lait with salted butter caramel and nougatine, page 163 — I have my eye on you). Or maybe we should all just make the salted butter caramel sauce below. I’m thinking that drizzled on even a boxed brownie mix, this would be incredible.
Not a baker or dessert maker? You can buy this as an early holiday gift for your friend and bookmark specific pages to inspire her (Sangria Sorbet on page 194, perhaps?).
It’s a beautiful book with really stunning images (Sorry. I just got distracted by the banana butterscotch cream pie on page 101) and recipes that don’t seem overwhelming. If you’ll excuse me, I’m trying to figure out if the chocolate port truffles on page 260 are in my immediate future. ($25, Amazon).
Are you whipping up any tasty treats for the upcoming holidays, or will it be a DoorDash experience? Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!
