Glow & Tell
Glow in the dark blemish pads, a treatment for extra shiny hair, a Barbie Rubik's Cube, and maximalist jewelry that brings back that '80s vibe
Hello, Gorgeous!
I ran into a neighbor last night (the sweet, nerdy widower in my building everyone keeps trying to fix me up with), and he bemoaned the fact that it was the weekend again. I couldn’t hide my shock when I asked him why. His response? “I’m not interesting like you are, I hate having to think of things to do all weekend.” And now gentle reader, you understand why we might not be a great match.
In any event, I thought up some fun distractions for you to enjoy this weekend. Here we go!
Glow in the dark blemish patches
I promise I am not making this up. I’m also a little embarrassed to admit just how much fun these are to use. Hanhoo Glow Blemish Patches shrink zits overnight. Need to use the loo at 4:00 a.m.? Instead of focusing on your hair standing on end or middle of the night puffy eyes, delight in your glowing complexion (literally) with patches in the shapes of hearts, stars, sparkles, and lightning bolts ($10, Hanoousa.com).
A shine infusion
If your hair is looking kinda crusty from too much styling and too many styling products, here’s a quick and easy fix.
Yves Rocher’s Shine Vinegar Rinsing Lotion (in this case fancy raspberry vinegar) gently removes product buildup while gently smoothing the hair cuticle. I’ve been known to rinse my hair with vinegar in the past, so I’m super curious to try a silicone-free product that smells delightful while leaving hair shiny and gunk-free. Best part? No vinegar scent, and it works on all hair types, from baby fine to thick and curly. ($17, yvesrocherusa.com).

A maximalist stack
Alexis Bittar’s spring collection veers from whimsy to my ‘80s retro daydream. I am seriously lusting after the bracelets in the Armor Collection which combine 14k gold plated geometric shapes combined with Bittar’s signature lucite. While these aren’t exactly Wonder Woman’s bullet-proof cuffs, they are inspired by ancient armor (About $425 each, alexisbittar.com).
Where’s my Wonder Woman Funko Pop?
Speaking of WW, Last week I noticed that my friend Blossom had a teeny Wonder Woman Funko toy on her dashboard. I gazed at it longingly and she explained that she’d snagged it randomly when opening a Kinder Joy toy and chocolate combo. I might have raced to my local candy store and bought a Kinder chocolate…or 12. Not one had a Wonder Woman action toy. NOT ONE. Not even the packages clearly displaying the Amazon princess of Themyscira on their packaging. I’ll try to be brave and get through the weekend without one.
Barbie x Rubik’s Cube
If you can’t get enough retro Barbie or ‘70s toys, you’re going to salivate over the new *official* Barbie Rubik’s Cube ($15, Amazon). It’s bright Barbie pink with some of Barbie’s finest moments (disco!).
A slightly magical escape
It’s been a rough week. This weekend I’ll be finishing up A Charming Touch of Tarot by Melissa Holtz, a cozy mystery that dips into the supernatural. The book is second in a series of two, that veer from the cozy formula slightly, so there’s a lot of mention of a group of four friends facing different challenging life moments. Also, magic. Expect ghosts, telepathy, laughs and everything needed to escape the mundane for a few hours (Pre-order now for $19, Amazon).
Like a tall drink of water (for your face)
Grace & Stella Hyaluronic Acid Serum is perfect for when you need a bit of dewiness for your face. That’s it. It also costs only $10 for a mini-ish size on graceandstella.com. It’s the perfect size to pack in your weekender.
And that’s it for me. I’m going to check on my challah (Alexa just reminded me to check Valhalla. True story). I’ll let you know how it comes out.
And what are you up to this weekend? Admit it. You’re just dying to try the glow in the dark zit patches!.

So fun! A couple of things I need to check out here. Jewelry, hair, and weekender stuff anyone?
