Hey, (Cover) Girl, Hey!
Mid-winter launches to spice up your look
Hello, Gorgeous!
I was going to feature one of the new Cover Girl launches, and then another and maybe the third. But it’s cold, I’m perpetually cranky and these are too cute to keep to myself for much longer.
Clean Fresh Squishy Glaze
If my 12-year-old self had branded a product, she might have given it this exact name. And you know what? She’d have been on to something. I mean what else would you call a tinted glaze with butterysquishy hydration and lasting shine? And no. Please don’t ask me to choose a favorite from the 5 tasty shades: Raspberry Twisted, Cotton Candy Grapes, Toasted Vanilla Marshmallow, Fresh Plum, and Peach Gummies (Fresh Plum. My favorite is Fresh Plum because it looks like a sophisticated color but has the personality of a slumber party). Notable: it’s a vegan formula made in the U.S.A., and unlike other awkwardly shaped lip glosses in tubes, this one has a comfy curved applicator. Also notable, the formula is infused with essential fatty acids, Hyaluronic Acid (what did we infuse products with before HA?), Shea Butter and some other goodies ($12, ulta.com).
TruBlend Skin Enhancer Baked Luminous Blush and Bronzer:
Can I tell you just how much I love these baked blush and bronzers? (wait, I’m pretty sure I just did). Unlike some other highly rated baked beauty products, these are somehow soft and intense to add color and some glow. Must be the ubiquitous Hyaluronic Acid and White Rose Extract (a lovely but not necessarily active ingredient that’s more about soothing and aromatherapy; think the petticoat under your poufy prom dress). The blush adds glow and color, while the bronzer is a lot of fun to play with for contour (are we still doing that?) or pretend vacation vibes. This made in Brazil formulation is extremely luxe feeling ($13, ulta.com).
Outlast Lip Stain
This one is crazy popular and sells out all the time. Lucky for us, three new shades drop this month including Honey Sculpt, Blushed Mauve, and Iconic Darling. I love the look and the way it makes deep lips look fun and not sleazy. One thing to note, even with all the sleep masks in the world, if you have even a bit of flaky skin, the stain will show up as darker spots. Don’t let that scare you. Blend 1/3 teaspoon of sugar with a bit of water and exfoliate lips before you get into the shower and then rinse. I LOVE the way this allows me to create a slightly more pillowy top lip. Note that I say slightly more pillowy because in reality it isn’t pillowy at all, but with Outlast, it’s at least noticeable ($9, Target.com).
Incidentally, any of these make a super cute Galentine’s Day gift.
So what does your midwinter makeup look like? Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!
