How Do You Commemorate Milestones?
And a sneak peek at an interview with Bronwyn Newport
Hello, Gorgeous!
Two things are on my mind today:
I interviewed Bronwyn Newport earlier today for ITYLT (I think you’ll like this) on Yahoo. In case you’re unfamiliar with her (as I was), she’s a fashion historian and Broadway producer who also appears on Real Housewives of Salt Lake City. Her style is incredible. Her confidence, even more so. Newport shared an exclusive on dressing your age after 40 for Hello Gorgeous! readers; that will run next week.
A lengthy Zoom last night has made this something I’m spending too much time thinking about: How do you celebrate the milestones in your life? Do you? A former love recently hit a major milestone birthday.
Or as he put it: “I’m old. I sag. How can you still flirt with me?”
Well, not to bare my soul completely, but I’m as attracted to him now as I was when we first met. I can tell you this because I know for a fact he doesn’t read this newsletter (“I don’t read your newsletters. It’s not personal. Email still freaks me out.”)
When I asked how he plans to celebrate this enormous milestone he responded “By not being dead.” Honestly? He’s not that old, but as someone who peaked young, he’s ancient. Which makes me realize that age is in fact just a number and celebrations and milestones may vary. Do vary.
As for me, I honestly try to find a reason for even a small celebration every single day. It’s not that complicated. I treated myself to a new bedside tumbler with funky colors and a pink cap so it doesn’t spill all over my nightstand when I inevitably knock it over in the middle of the night. I put stickers on it. I knocked it over last night and NOTHING SPILLED. For me, it’s a silly cause for celebration, but it makes me smile nonetheless.
As for my ancient former love. He’s still trying to find a reason to celebrate. I celebrate the fact that we’re still in each other’s lives, despite him stomping on my heart, throwing it in a high-speed blender, and then moving to another country all those years ago.
So how do you celebrate milestones? Do you need a special occasion to have an occasion? And do you watch anything on the Real Housewives universe? Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!

Oh! I love this!! A little bit juicy … and thinking about celebrating milestones. I reached a HUGE birthday milestone last November and had so many grand ideas of how I might celebrate. What happened instead was an injury and major surgery. The best possible celebration still happened though. My beautiful and wonderful children and grand daughter made a delicious and homey candlelight dinner for me. I couldn’t have been happier with that precious time. I can’t wait to read more about this interview - and the former lover!
Celebrating milestones calls for my favorite rose champagne Denouselle . Sadly there have not been any I felt like breaking out the bottle in my fridge for, was going to open on my Birthday in December but was in the hospital recovering from surgery on my broken wrist. So I will break out the bubbly when the next magic milestone hits - Healed wrist? New website? Just the arrival of Spring? I’ll find a reason soon enough. And welcome a new milestone with exquisite pink champagne, 🍾 🥂💕💕💕the ultimate must have for a fizzy and fun celebration. And Rachel I’ll call you to come on over and join in!
