Hello, Gorgeous!
I’m pretty sure that it goes without saying that I love testing out new products. And while I haven’t been using Odacite products for all that long, I’m always excited when new products drop. The new SPF 50 Color Balm did not disappoint.
Odacite SPF 50 Color Balm
Like all good beauty writers, I’m vigilant about applying SPF daily. But I’m also always vaguely paranoid that I haven’t applied or reapplied enough. So I was intrigued when I heard that the newest color launch from Odacite is infused with mineral SPF meant to protect against damaging UV rays and blue light. (We should probably do a deep dive into blue light blocking another time).
The balm is a small pot (similar to Trinny London stacks, though not stackable) with gorgeous sheer buildable color balm that comes in four shades you can use as blush, bronzer, luminizer or highlighter. It’s infused with Vitamin E so that the color stays soft looking without sinking into your skin.
There are two options: You can buy the balm alone for $39, or pair with a universal makeup brush for $55. I’m not gonna lie, I absolutely love the way the bristles on this brush have a very slight doming effect so that color is applied in a way that hugs your cheekbones as you swipe it on.
When I first swatch tested, I noticed a lot of sparkle (I tried Frosted Petal) and was a bit apprehensive that I’d look like a disco diva if I tried it out during the day. I didn’t have to worry. While I felt glowy the entire day, no one noticed that I was even wearing the emperor’s new blush. That made me a little sad since I kept having to not so subtly ask friends and fam: WHAT DO YOU THINK OF MY NEW BLUSH? Most smiled kindly. But honestly, it didn’t matter. I loved the way I felt wearing this. And I’m going to add another layer or two next time I try this balm ($39, or $55, odacite.com).
Final thoughts: This cute lil’ blush is not at all like Bobbi Brown’s Jones Road Miracle Balm. I know some of you love it, I’m just not a fan*.
For color, ease of application and general flattering factor, I prefer the Odacite color balm! I’ll just apply more next time.
So are you as excited as I am by products that are infused with SPF and don’t leave you looking splotchy? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!

*Back in my celeb makeup artist days we often used (trigger warning alert for ick factor) mortician’s wax to smooth out seriously uneven skin texture or create whopping special effects that might even ooze. That’s what Jones Road Miracle Balm reminds me of.
Mortician wax? Make sense but who knew!
Sounds fun and I'm the first one (okay second or third) to want to try it, but uh - not gonna lie - I couldn't see a damn thing - even when you asked. 🙂
