Inspired by OLAY: What are some life lessons you learned from dear old (and not so old) mom?

Heads up — I'm partnering with one of my all time favorite skincare brands - OLAY on a Mother's Day campaign this week, and today's post is the warm-up and love letter to them. Let’s get to it.
It’s May, which means that many of us are working to figure out what would make the perfect Mother’s Day gift.
This year, my partners at OLAY and I are taking a different approach to celebrating mom: Instead of wondering what we can buy for mom, we’re focusing on the gifts our mothers have given us over the years. And it’s not limited to the tangibles. Instead, we’re focusing on the positive lessons, habits, or quirks that make our daily lives better- courtesy of mom.
Mother’s Day can be a toughie for some of you. If any of this hits a tender spot, please skip and come back next week, since I’m going to be celebrating mom for the next few posts.
What are some lessons you’ve learned from your mother?
I could probably write a book about the things that I’ve learned from my mother. I'm not boasting when I say I'm a world-class cook, thanks to endless hours in the kitchen with mom. She also has an incredible fashion sense, and an unerring eye for color. One thing my mom and I differ on is our approach to beauty. If she swipes on lipstick or touches up her eyebrows on any given day, she’ll sigh dramatically and say she “did her face.” Me, on the other hand, if I’m not trying out a dozen or more products, I feel like my face is naked.
When it comes to skincare though, my mother and I adopt a similar approach. We both favor classic brands that keep improving with age…sort of like we do! And a lot like OLAY.
I should add that I joke that I grew up with four mothers - my aunts were definitely my bonus moms. No matter when I see her, my auntie S always asks me when I’m partnering with the skincare company with the red packaging (she means OLAY Regenerist Micro-Sculpting Cream, which is the only skin cream she’ll ever use. More about their fabulous updated formula on Friday).
