Hello, Gorgeous!
*Hushed silence*
While I was quietly living life, something big was happening over at MAC. Not one, but two new spring launches:
MAC Lipglass Air which is touted as being non-sticky and
MAC Liglass Blow for volume and plumping.
I’ve tried neither. But I really want to try Lipglass Air. Here’s why:
Why the new MAC Lipglass launches are notable
Back in the 1990s MAC introduced Lipglass as a single clear gloss. It was lauded for being so versatile you could wear it with anything. And Lipglass 1.0 was super shiny and added a touch of glam to any lip look (well, except for ‘90s-era matte of course). The brand repeatedly announced that was their one and only foray into lip gloss. Only it wasn’t.
As Lipglass became increasingly popular, the brand introduced more shades and textures. And in addition to their iconic aughty offerings like Oh Baby, Oyster Girl, and Prr. And of course MAC continued the interest by regularly introducing limited edition shades (Xmas 2019 was particularly notable), partnerships and related products like Lustreglass. Which brings us to Lipglass Air.
Lipglass Air is mostly a modern update to the now iconic Lipglass formula. Only the lighter weight texture is also less prone to tackiness. It takes on current wellness mashup trends as well and brags (an actually not that impressive) 7% blend of pure botanicals. For a mass market brand though, it’s a nice touch and ingredients include Meadowfoam and Jojoba seed oil and coconut oil. Curiously enough, there are currently 13 shades (not a number usually used in marketing luxury products) from a clear and a baby pink to bright reds and deep browns and wines ($25, maccosmetics.com).
As for Lipglass Blow, it’s a plumping oil gloss update of Lipglass. I’ll be skipping this one unless you’re curious about the stinging effect in which case I’ll test and review.
Have you tried the newest Lipglass launches ? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
