Hello, Gorgeous!
For a variety of reasons, some people don’t consider Mother’s Day to be the happiest day on the calendar. For that reason, so I’m going to share one small gift guide today with another one coming next week, instead of posting mega guides. Keep in mind that these celebrate the idea of either your mom, or someone you love deeply and nurture or protect no matter whether or not you have blood ties.
New web address: You may have noticed that Hello Gorgeous! now lives on a unique URL. We’ve moved from our original Substack address to https://www.hellogorgeous.news Please update your address book and whitelist this newsletter again if necessary. Why the change? Well, that part is still top secret, but I’ll share more in the coming weeks.
Before you head out for the weekend, consider one of these for dear old mom. Or dear young mom. Or for yourself.
A 14K gold chain extender
Who says that you have to splurge on pricey jewelry to qualify for favorite kid status? While jewelry brand MYKA creates incredible personalized jewelry at a wide variety of price points (I’m unhealthily obsessed with this ankle bracelet), this is a bit more subtle. A chain extender will allow her to wear necklaces that have magically shrunk over the years ($80, Myka.com).
The James Bond of hand blenders
Is it wrong to anthropomorphize kitchen utensils and favor them based on how much they can do for you? Well, I suspect you or your mom will fall in love with this efficient and elegantly designed multi-tasking hand blender from British legacy company Dualit. There’s a whisk! And a chopping bowl! It’s got a lot of power (450W) and multiple settings. It also has a vaguely pleasant sound instead of a deafening grinding crunch. Great for small jobs like Sunday pancakes ($144, Dualit.com).
For the wannabe granny
A Modern Guide to Granny Squares has the sweetest and most beautiful granny square designs. It shakes up your crafting and invites you to look at color and pattern in new ways. Also, if your own mom keeps harassing you about having kids, this can be a sly way to gently remind her that her happiness is not dependent on your own ability to procreate ($13, Amazon).
Purlisse Glow Revival Facial Oil
I’ve received questions from some of you wondering if you can still use a facial oil during hot, sweaty months. Most emphatically yes, especially if you’re planning air travel or will be in air conditioned rooms. The skin geniuses at Purlisse combine algae oil (evens out skin tone) with soy milk (calms and soothes even sensitive skin) along with camellia extract to boost skin’s elasticity. I also like the way this oil feels lighter and less tacky than the ones I use during winter months ( $49, purlisse.com).
G I V E A W A Y NEXT WEEK
Stay tuned because I’m going to be doing an amazing giveaway from Designed With Meaning next week. It’s a great brand where every single item is handcrafted in some meaningful way and can be quietly personalized. I’ll explain more about it next week!
I’ll also be announcing the three winners of the HiBAR giveaway.
And so my darlings, I’m heading out for the weekend. Any fun plans or dedicated shopping adventures on the horizon? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
