Oka Recovery Slides Left My Hokas in the Dust
Sustainably Made in the USA super comfortable slides
Hello, Gorgeous!
I love comfortable shoes. In fact, I frequently find myself slightly obsessed with finding the most perfect pair of comfy footwear.
For a long time I thought that Hoka recovery slides epitomized that ideal. I was mistaken. Let us pass the torch to Oka Sustainable Recovery Slides, the most comfortable slides I’ve ever tried.
Walking on clouds
Last week I scheduled multiple meetings and events on the same day. As I rushed around town across rough concrete sidewalks, my feet sobbed in protest. Though I was wearing sneakers, they were more for style than comfort, and my poor tootsies took notice. And then something magical happened*. My feet met and fell deeply in love with Oka Recovery slides.
A step above
First and foremost, Oka are way more comfortable and supportive than any of my Hokas. I’ll admit that I skeptical before trying them out, because how could it get more comfortable? It did though, and I was wowed from the first wear.
Let us discuss the high points:
Supportive comfort. One thing I’ve noticed about most recovery slides is the fact that they’re just kind of on your feet with no active participation. Sure they have bounce, but not any kind of dedicated comfort. The Oka slides have a deeper heel cup and surprisingly good arch support. They also have 12 side vents to keep things fresh not fetid.
They’re Made in the U.S.A. I love supporting locally made or sourced products whenever possible. Okas have been made in Buford, Georgia since 1984.
SO affordable. Both the flip flop and slide styles are only $49.95, way less than Hoka. And in case you’re thinking of cheaping out and trying an Amazon brand, I recently bought (and subsequently returned) these. They come in loads of colors, but were extremely uncomfortable and made poorly. The pins in the buckles were too small making it an extremely awkward fit. I do think there’s a fine balance between great prices and great products. Oka has both.
100% recyclable. Let’s talk about the no waste aspect of the brand. Buying new shoes? Send your old ones back to be recycled. Their HEYLO zero-waste, closed-loop manufacturing system upcycles your old shoes into new ones! You can read about their entire supply chain here.
Clever copy. Okay, this has nothing at all to do with comfortable shoes, but as a professional writer I really appreciate a brand with a great sense of humor and excellent presentation. Oka has both.
One thing, while the shoes claim to have a wide toe box they did feel ever so slightly more narrow than Hoka. Not enough to matter, though ($49.95, okarecovery.com).
Are you as obsessed with recovery slides as I am? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!

*The second magical thing that happened was meeting a tall, cute, bearded guy who was also wearing green sneakers. Flirting is fun!
Kiki, I can't seem to respond to your comment. We all know I'm a huge fan of magic and more recently 💚 👟!
Okay, sign me up for Oka. I love everything about them starting with "closed loop."
