Let’s talk about Betty Grable
Back when I was researching my first book Hello Gorgeous! Beauty Products in America ‘40s-‘60s (a new edition is in the works, stay tuned!) I kept coming across increasingly fascinating facts about actress-turned-pinup model Betty Grable.
Grable, born Elizabeth Ruth Grable, (December 18, 1916 – July 2, 1973) was a major box office draw in the 1940s, where she was most often portrayed as wholesome and sweet. And because she had a killer pair of legs — that she later insured for $1 million— Grable often wore short costumes for extended dance routines.
