Hello, Gorgeous!
At the risk of repeating myself, I am SO READY for the weekend.
So this is going to be a short version of Hello Gorgeous! Reality Check (HG Reality Check). Last week I was cranky about cream soda lips. TLDR: Skip them.
Today I’ll briefly muse about all those expensive lip balms that beauty girls are raving about.
Should you buy one?
It depends.
Spike Valentino Disco Balm, Sarah Creal The Adults are Talking Solid Serum Lip Repair Balm, and Clarins Hydra-Essentiel Moisture Replenishing Lip Balm
If you’re fond of lip trends, you’ve no doubt noticed these lip balms cropping up on a lot of must-have list. But must you really have them? At $42 for the Valentino and Sarah Creal and $28 for the Clarins, it seems like a lot for a lip balm.
Sure the ingredients are incredible and tick all the boxes for smoothing, softening. slightly silkening. But are we really at a point where we spend $42 on a product that should cost less than $5? Again, maybe.
The Valentino case is exquisite. If you’re a fan of old Hollywood glam, it just screams boudoir. The Sarah Creal version deposits a bit of color with its promised nearly miraculous results. But does it deliver? Again, maybe. It depends on how pillowy and poufy your pout was to begin with. As for the Clarins, I’m a huge fan of the brand in general. This is a nice enough balm, but I’m not feeling a holy grail vibe (despite it being an online exclusive).
In the end, I’ll leave this one up to you. Do you want to leap on the $$$$$ balm trend or are you fine with Chapstick or Laneige? I am.

Would you spend $42 on lip balm? To be honest, I’ve splurged on Dior, but it was more about needing a mood lift than thinking it was worth it. Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
