Celebrity makeup artist Elaina Badro makes talc-free translucent powder + fantastic makeup brushes

It’s not often you find a makeup artist with an MBA. Beauty entrepreneur and celebrity makeup artist Elaina Badro combines her beauty and business savvy in her eponymous line.

The former MAC and Gucci makeup artist created makeup brushes that allow anyone to apply makeup like a pro. But it’s her talc-free translucent pressed powder that’s very intriguing to me.

I love that this vegan formula is free of mineral oils/petroleum & petroleum derivatives/silicone oils/volatile silicones/talc fragrance and parabens.

It’s made in Italy of 98% of natural origin ingredients. But you know what’s really cool? This pressed powder is designed to work with all skin tones. Having only tried it on my milk-white skin, I can’t attest to how well it works on darker tones, but it acts like a light as air foundation/concealer combo ($58, elainabadro.com).

Now back to the brushes for a moment.

Back in the day, Trish McEvoy really pioneered the idea of what she called the window wiper brush for blending in layers of shadow in the crease of your eyelids. Badro’s version is the Blending Eye Brush, which does a great job. I also like the Fluff Brush which is great for applying an all over wash of shadow ($20, $16, elainabadro.com). One thing though, I haven’t had time to delve into manufacturers of all the brushes, but some bristles felt softer than others which had a slight prickly feel. That said, this is a great line of makeup brushes. Your best bet is to try out one at a time before splurging on multiple brushes.
