Temu Bessette
The pitch frenzy isn't about Carolyn Bessette Kennedy. It's about a TV show.
Hello, Gorgeous!
If you’re a subscriber to The Hot Sheet — my communications and PR newsletter—you’ll already have read my somewhat cantankerous take on the aggressive pitching frenzy around the late Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
I love feedback from readers and that hot take has inspired comments, voice notes, emails, and one irate phone message. And they keep coming. And unlike when I write for major media, the comments are fun, interesting, and most often compare notes with my viewpoint.
I’ll give a shout-out to the always brilliant Julia - she of the incredible voice notes - who offered her thoughts on the younger women influencers. I’ll paraphrase the super sharp way she said many lack originality and live in carefully curated identical beige apartments while mining dead celebrities for fashion inspiration.
I think you’ll enjoy the read.
And while this is my take on what PR pros might be messing up with this story, it might be interesting for you as well. Especially if you lived in NYC during the John John years, emulated or rejected anything to do with Carolyn Bessette Kennedy.
So are you watching the series, or have you rejected it? Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!
