Hello, Gorgeous!
I recently made the unfortunate decision to join a pal at their summer cabin way (way) (way) upstate. While the scenery was great, the cabin was more of a teeny tiny hellhole crafted of oversized splinters, and existing simply to attract mold, dust and critters.
Moving right along.
If you’re spending a good portion of your own summer sneezing, snoring, and coughing, this would be a great time to treat yourself (and your roommate or bed mate) to a new air purifier. I vote for the Coway Airmega 50.
Coway Airmega 50
Here’s what I like about this compact air purifier:
It’s small and lightweight. Don’t have room for another gadget? This one isn’t very noticeable and weighs 3.5 lbs.
It’s ridiculously easy to use. Most of us are tired of figuring out the intricacies of new gadgets. Set automode and the Airmega 50’s particle sensor will automatically adjust the airflow to clean the air.
Nightlight and air quality indicators. I require my bedroom to be as dark as possible at night, so I don’t take advantage of the nightlight feature. There’s also another cool feature where the transluscent grill at the top of the device let’s you know just how bad your air quality is: Blue is good, green is okay, amber is unhealthy and red is very unhealthy - like my friend’s cabin.
Affordable. While I love me some gadgets, I’m over overspending. This cute desktop or bedside model is just about $80, though the filter is $30 and has to be replaced every eight months.
It’s mostly quiet. I love white noise machines while I sleep, so noise isn’t actually that much of a factor for me. You can set this model to sleep and drift off. Or set the timer for 1-8 hours while you’re cooking to prevent onion odor for days.
You can take it with you. Heading to a ramshackle cabin in the woods? BYOAP- bring your own air purifier ($79.99, cowaymega.com).
Are your allergies off the chart this summer? Do you have an air purifier you love? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
