Hello, Gorgeous!
The debate about wearing white before or after Labor Day doesn’t impact me since I never wear white. Well, rarely.
Maybe it’s my dyed-in-the-wool, basic-black NYC DNA. More likely, it’s the fact that I’m a bit klutzy; lip gloss, smoothies, berries, or grilled cheese inevitably end up on my clothes.
But here’s one white item even I can wear without worrying about random stains or blotches.
Sea Bags Tan Chebeague Large Travel Tote
There is so much to love about this tote.
It’s huge enough for everyday schlepping and roomy enough for a weekend away, or to use as a carry-on bag. I love the sturdy water-resistant tan canvas. It has a fabulous weatherbeaten effect and is lighter than leather (though vegan friends, please note: the handles are extremely comfortable but made of leather).
Most interesting of all? The shell is made from recycled sailcloth—in this case, white. And even though the white section of the bag is tucked under my arm, it doesn’t stain or pick up dye from my clothing. A quick wipe, and it’s perfectly clean again.
It’s easy to fall in love with Sea Bags knowing every single product is made in the USA from recycled sailcloth— on the working waterfront in Portland, Maine ($250, seabags.com).
Do you avoid white no matter the time of year? Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!

A "second wind for old sails"--clever! I love Sea Bags. They're the real deal--repurposed materials made into something new--and in Maine, no less!
I wear white jeans (like everyone else?) but they wash easily, so it's FINE.
Gorgeous and repurposed! I repurpose white denim jackets with dye projects! They come out beautiful, I love being creative with colors, have great colorful jackets and the process is great fun. People have asked me to make them for them - and strangers ask about the colors. So far I do it for fun.
