Weekend Glow Ahead
A home dermal peel, a hat for rain and sun, and the glowiest blush drops ever!
Hello, Gorgeous!
I officially declare this weekend a time for reclaiming your glow. But don’t worry, it won’t be too complicated. I’ll make it easy with a few fun suggestions.
An Aussie beauty line worth checking out
I have a personal (read: unscientific) theory that beauty brands from Australia are great for skin of a certain age. Products are formulated with the powerful sun and intense elements in mind, so I naturally took notice when I heard about MCoBeauty. While I can’t attest to the skincare (I haven’t tried it yet) I love that they have skincare available for everyone from teens to 50somethings. You know what else I love? MCoBeauty’s Super Glow Blush Drops.
This fantastic product is infused with cocoa extract (a natural antioxidant that gently repairs skin) along with hyaluronic acid. It’s slightly chalky, so make sure to shake well every time you use. I tried two ways - applied directly to my skin, and also blended into a tinted moisturizer. Both versions left me with a very subtle glow, but enough of a face perk up that I didn’t need more blush. You can find MCoBeauty at Target, and pretty much all products are under $15.00. Or you can go directly to their site where there’s a one-day sale and you can score the blush drops and a bunch of other products for under $5, us.mcobeauty.com.
Oh, Estee
I am madly in love with Pure Color Melt-On Glosstick, the brand new gloss from Estee Lauder. It’s hard to explain the way this product is sheer and glossy while also delivering a bold boost of pigment when you layer on the color. I did not feel or see the plumping effect, but I loved the way my lips looked, and the hydration boost stayed after the color faded. Unlike other lip products, I first applied the glosstick and then enhanced the outline of my lips very subtly with a gel lipliner. Chef’s kiss to this modern launch from a legacy brand. I tried Melted Mauve, ($38, esteelauder.com).
A Beverly Hills quality at-home treatment
If you feel like you need more than a cosmetic boost, but don’t want to inject, nip, or tuck, check out the resurfacing treatment from Beverly Hills MD. While this isn’t a pro dermal peel, the two-part 30-day system will gently slough away dead surface cells with a cocktail of retinol and AHAs along with protective peptides ($120 for a 30-day supply, beverlyhillsmd.com).
A hat for all seasons
I’m a woman who wears many hats. Literally. I really love hats. Here’s one you might like. Muji’s water repellant sealed safari hat isn’t glam. It is, however, extremely effective at repelling rain or blocking sun, so you can protect your ‘do from rain and your face from damaging UV rays. While this isn’t the cutest or most flattering hat I’ve ever worn, it’s practically weightless and easier to carry around than an umbrella ($40, Muji stores or muji.us).
Glow between the lines
If you’re happiest spending the weekend with your nose in a book (🙋🏻♀️), The Eights by Joanna Miller will transform you for a few hours. Set in Oxford in 1920, the book explores a quartet of the first female students in the university’s thousand year history. If you love period dramas/deeply researched historical fiction and miss the setting of Downton Abbey, you’ll love the historical aspects of the book. The characters are vibrant and never fall into cliched behavior (Pre-order now $26, Amazon.com).
And that’s it for this time around. Bring on the glow!
What are your weekend plans? Will there be any home spa treatments? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!
