Weekend Mode: Ready to Thaw
Spritz, slick, mask, repeat
Hello, Gorgeous!
I feel like this weekend theme should be renewal. Finding tiny ways to nudge your body and soul back to a more active space. And let’s face it, spring is there someplace underneath the endless rain and sludge and winter vibe.
A body serum
Love Tree Hut products? Me, too. And I’m acquainting myself with their newer launch bdy. I really dig Brightening Dual Phase Body Serum Mist with Niacinamide + Squalane for a whole bunch of reasons. I’m bored of slathering on tons of body lotion. This is a light feeling spray that does the work. While my fave time to apply a full body soft-a-thon is post shower, this spray is light enough and super fast absorbing so you can use some before bed…or bedtime activities ($26, Ulta.com).
Lips don’t lie
I can say this truthfully, if you recommend a lip mask or balm or gloss or (you get the idea) any product that promises to hydrate, there’s an excellent chance I’ll try it. While it’s unlikely I’ll ever gyrate in spangly underthings on the Vegas stage like Jennifer Lopez, it feels slightly empowering to use Beso Balm Ultra-Hydrating Lip Mask by JLo Beauty. Is it the best mask I’ve ever used? I have no idea. But I like it, my lips feel super soft and for some reason it really does have a glam vibe ($19, Revolve.com).
Hair Hugs
I was just having a comment conversation (a conversation carried out in the comments of a post) about hugs. I like them. I didn’t always. I am however a new convert to the benefits of Hydration Hugs Mega Moisture Hair Mask from Ouai founder Jen Atkin’s newer haircare brand, Mane. I love that it’s fast action and powered with ingredients that make me smile. Strawberry Extract, Japanese Yuzu, Peptides, and Hyaluronic Acid work together to boost softness and shine while repairing damage. I’m also infinitely amused to know the scent is a new fragrance profile called Sunny Buns just bursting with notes of strawberry, cream, and mandarin. I’m also impressed that it didn’t leave my baby fine hair looking lank. Please note that this mask drops next week ($34, heymane.com).
Ease your way into Retinol
If you take your skincare seriously, you’ll love Vivier, the eponymous new skincare line by Jess Vivier, a pharmaceutical and chemical engineering expert. I’ve been testing out a quartet of products from the new launch and so far am really loving the Retinol 1.0% formula. It’s apparently infused with a retinol complex with something called Poly-Pore Technology that visibly reduces deep lines, wrinkles, blemishes, and uneven tone. I’m not sure how it’s possible, but it’s also meant to minimize irritation with a boost of Vitamin C & E. While I don’t have scientific proof of it, I’m amazed at the really quick results I’ve had with this one. Pro tip: Use on Friday nights for the first week or so to really monitor results, and then work up to a few nights until you use it every night ($132, dermstore.com).
Zen + Yoga
I’ve been trying to get back into a regular yoga practice for the longest time. Cyndi Lee’s book is available for pre-order now and available in late April. I love the illustrations and advice, and the fact that it’s not a typical yoga book but rather, part yoga, part pep talk as you might expect from a professional yoga instructor who’s also a Buddhist chaplain. If I have one thing to be cranky about, the words are a little small and hard to read. Otherwise, this is a book worth adding to your daily practice ($25, Amazon).
Serious and extremely random question. Like Cyndi Lee, I’m a chaplain too and one of my books is about prayer and faith. Would you enjoy mood boost posts or similar from time to time? I’m happy to provide those if you think it’s helpful. Let’s meet in the comments to discuss!
