Next month, Hello Gorgeous! turns two.
I’ve been thinking about what I wanted to bring you to mark it. Something that actually says what these two years have meant, beyond a discount code or a giveaway. Something that shows you just how much I appreciate each and every one of you and also the way that Hello Gorgeous! is making its mark in the newsletter-verse. So here it is: next week I’m sitting down with Mariska Hargitay. In person, even though I’m the crankiest person in America and tend to rely on Zoom interviews these days because leaving the house requires a lot of effort (and travel!). The woman a generation knows as Olivia Benson is currently making her Broadway debut in Every Brilliant Thing, following a Tony-nominated Daniel Radcliffe, AKA Harry Potter. The glorious Hargitay has agreed to answer a couple of questions that I’m bringing straight from you.
When I started HG!, I wanted a space for women with no intention of fading into the background. You showed up. The brands followed (Olay, Helix, and more on the way). And now one of the most recognizable women in the country is going to talk directly to this community. Two years in, this is the gift I most wanted to give you: a real conversation with a woman this whole room admires. Someone who, it turns out, wants to hear what you have to say.
So tell me, what would you ask her?
I’m most curious what you’d ask a woman who keeps reinventing herself in full view. About second acts. About the people who shaped her. About doing some of the bravest work of her life in her 60s. The questions women like us would think to ask.
