Hello, Gorgeous!
This afternoon marks the autumnal equinox, which is the first official day of fall in this part of the world. For some, this signifies the gloomy descent into shorter days and longer, darker, colder, days. For others, it symbolizes finding the balance between dark and light. And goodness knows that I choose to find light and brightness whenever possible, even as the days grow shorter.
I’m celebrating the day by sharing my discovery of the most perfect fall nude lip ever.
*Hushed silence falls as everyone gathers round their screens*
While we all have different skin tones and beauty needs, I’m feeling confident that this combo will flatter most skin tones. Let’s start with the lip liner.
DIBS Beauty No Pressure Lip Liner in Girl Talk
I was excited to try out these new and improved lip liners that dropped early this month but a series of mailing mishaps made it take a bit longer.
It was worth the wait.
How much do I love this new formulation? Let me count the ways.
They go on perfectly smooth. No drag, no makeup stop and starts.
They’re also infused with a collagen stimulating peptide, so instead of making lips look flat or blah, there’s a nice bit of plump added to the mix.
The vegan formulation means you’re not putting anything on your lips you wouldn’t want in your mouth.
Staying power. Well, hello there long-lasting look without odd drying patterns. Simply apply, let dry and then follow with lip color or gloss.
One tiny thing, they do feel the slightest bit drying after you let them settle after application. That’s the matte effect and does not dry out your lips at all.
My color of choice is Girl Talk, a nude pink that has just the right amount of bronzey/pink goodness ($20, dibsbeauty.com).
I wanted to create a subtle but packed with punch look to ease into autumn, so I decided to combine with one of Clinique’s newer offerings.
Clinique Almost Lipstick in Nude Honey
Every beauty editor ever has raved about Clinique’s Black Honey lip collection (said to be the #1 lip color shade in the U.S.). We’ll skip the recap and move onto two newer offerings: Nude Honey and Pink Honey, both meant to fill a gap in the color category. And then we’ll go back to Nude Honey and rave for a bit more.
It’s not a lip gloss. It’s not a lipstick. It’s not a balm. It’s a sheer, wonderful texture that you can wear as a hint of color or build for more impact. When worn alone, I apply about three intense swipes. Combined with the DIBS lip liner this is pretty much the best fall lip look I’ve come up with recently (she said modestly). Clinique Nude Honey Almost Lipstick is $25 on ulta.com.
Okay, my lovelies. I’ll see you on Thursday since as mentioned last week, I’m taking off tomorrow + Wednesday for Rosh Hashana 🍎🍯.
