Is This Your Next Favorite Overnight Lip Mask?
Probably not, but it's a fine (and fun) alternative. Also, the winners of the HiBAR giveaway
Hello, Gorgeous!
A quick reminder that there won’t be a weekend roundup this week and probably next week either.
Also, congratulations to Judy (L.A.), Julia (Chicago), and Lori (NYC) on winning the HiBAR giveaway. And now let’s talk about lip masks.
Here’s a quick thought on an overnight lip mask that may or may not be a great dupe for Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask, the OG and category creator of lip masks.
Tree Hut Overnight Lip Masks
If you’re too tired to even play at spa night this weekend, maybe you can opt for a lip spa instead with Tree Hut's Overnight Lip Masks.
I’ll start with the not great parts. The scents are a bit synthetic and the texture is on the goopy side. But let’s discuss the good parts.
They come in three scents — vanilla, strawberry, and watermelon.
Price: At $10, these lip masks cost about half of what you’d pay for Laneige. That means you can feel free to slather on your lips, and also on cuticles, hangnails or ragged heels.
Portability. These are packaged similarly to Laneige in itty bitty jars, so they’re extremely portable and great for your desk drawer or air travel. Apply before a flight and your lips will be soft for the entire flight.
Glossiness factor. In a pinch, these look great as gloss.
Ingredients. Shea Butter, Sunflower Oil, Coconut Oil and Vitamin E are especially impressive ingredients given the affordable price point.
In all, these lip masks are a cute and affordable option for when your kisser needs a boost. ($10, Ulta).
Incidentally, I’m not a great fan of dupe culture (or what MCoBeauty refers to as Dupés!) in general. That said, I do enjoy trying comparable products to see which ones are better.
Any thoughts on a lip mask that costs half the price of the industry standard, or would you rather stick with one you already love? Let’s meet in the comment section to discuss!

I wonder if the makers of overnight lip products are thinking about mouth-taping? Or can you mouth tape and moisturize? Sounds like I have some experimenting to do!
